Working together for safer communities |
||
#TogetherFor Bedfordshire | It’s been another week where teamwork has worked wonders starting with more than a million pounds worth of cannabis plants discovered in a nightclub in Bedford. Officers from the Bedford Community policing team worked with our specialist Drugs Focus Desk, carrying out a warrant on the property before assisting in protecting the scene, making it safe and clearing the plants out. And the teamwork didn’t end there: It may sound like the Rural Crime Action Team specialise in helping rural communities particularly our farmers and villages. And so they do, but the equipment and skills they have are easily transferable. So, they were called in using their specialist drone to help identify the property using thermal imaging. And talking of our specialist units, what about our Luton Airport team. This week they obtained their first Criminal Behaviour Order served on a persistent shoplifter. It means that if he enters the Airport, or two retail centres in Luton in the next three years he will be arrested. And of course the routine policing to make our town centres safer continues. Working with our partners and keeping town centres safe is at the heart of our Safer Streets Summer policing plan and this week saw the usual foot patrols from teams across the county. And on a lighter note (no dogs this week, sadly), one of the country’s biggest sporting events was in the county for stage three of the Lloyds Tour of Britain cycling race. More than a hundred top-class road cyclists rode the 133km route from Milton Keynes ending up in Ampthill – and of course our Ampthill community team was on hand to help ensure all ran smoothly.
And we rely on your information to keep our communities safer. If you’ve got something you’d like to report, visit our website: www.beds.police.uk.
